The ShootingRay is a playable unit in Metal Slug Attack, first appearing in the Extra Ops "Eternal Way".
A customized, mass-produced version of the ShootingRay that Caroline normally uses, it's remote-controlled from afar. Like the Custom Vehicle, the ShootingRay is a target unit, so players can deploy it anywhere they want. Unlike the Custom Vehicle, which is prohibited from going near the enemy base, the ShootingRay does not have this restriction; however, its normal attack cannot be used to damage the enemy's base.
While it does far less damage, it shoots a large amount of projectiles. The ShootingRay also excels at disrupting almost any enemy unit, such as the Toschka Dalanue II (in which it will land much earlier than its user would want). The ShootingRay also has a built-in suicide attack that it uses if it reaches 0 health, and this damage can be boosted with 1. While it has a large amount of health for a unit of both its cost and purpose, the suicide attack gives some decent back-up should the enemy destroy it.
For maximum efficiency, it should be placed where its suicide attack is able to deal the most amount of damage. Always check on the in-game radar and the screen itself. Place the ShootingRay in advance (but not too fast, or the element of surprise is gone) against specific enemies, as there is a short delay before the desired projectiles to block will be absorbed by it.
